AMY AND MAC; BOBBY AND IDA

[/blockquote][/blockquote]Amy was sweating already, and she hadn't even gotten on the new horse yet. The big colt was giving her a goofy look, almost like he was laughing at her. This made her extremely angry but she tried to get at his feet again. He once more kicked out with his back leg, very close to her head; she could hear the wind rushing past her ear. Mac had been doing this for a while; every time she tried to get near his back hoof to clean it, he would kick out. And it wasn't because he was in pain or because he was scared, it was because he was just that aggressive.
She cursed profusely, gave him a sharp smack on his stomach that made him jump, and bravely grabbed his back left leg. She tightened her grip on his ankle as he tried to kick out and managed to clean it quickly then let him drop his foot. He snorted loudly and tossed his head, but otherwise stood quietly while she went to get the racing track that they used for training. He danced around when she placed the saddle on his back, but she got it on without much trouble. When it came to the girth, however, he tried to turn his head to nip her, but the cross ties didn't allow him much room to move.
After struggling with trying to get the bridle on him, Amy clipped the chin strap of her helmet then led him outside. Once outside, she looked around to find Bobby; she would not ride this beast without anyone there for the first time. She shrugged when she found he wasn't up by the barn but figured he would be down at the track. Her assumptions proved correct as he waved from on top of Ignacia. "Hey Amy. Let's just take them for a nice and easy breeze," Amy snorted as he said this; she doubted anything about this colt would be "nice and easy".
Mac reared up before Amy tried to get him on the freshly lain dirt track. She gave him a sharp kick and he leaped forward a few feet, startling Ignacia as he went. The filly bolted onto the track, galloping a few strides before Bobby slowed her down to a swift trot. Her eyes were bulging and she was very nervous; she kept eying the big colt and trying to dance away from him. This worked Mac up more and Amy was beginning to believe she should have told Bobby to just watch from the rail. Once they finally got both of the horses under control (or under as much control as was possible), they set off down the track at a light trot, both posting quickly to the gait of their horses.
After doing a quick warm up, they both nudged their horses forward in a canter. Ignacia willingly picked up a swift canter, but Mac tried to charge straight into a gallop. Amy seesawed on his mouth for a while before he grudgingly slowed to a canter, throwing a buck every few strides. "You ready?" Bobby yelled at Amy, and she gave him a quick nod, tightening her grip on the colt's reins. Bobby leaned forward, crouching lower over Ida's back, and gave her a sharp tap with his heels. She shot forward gracefully. At this moment, Mac pricked his ears; Amy could feel a shudder run through his body. The next moment, he was shooting past the white filly with blistering speed. She was crouched low over his neck, fingers intertwined in his black mane, and laughing her head off.
"What happened to nice and easy?" Bobby shouted at Amy as Mac finally slowed down to a trot. She giggled, turning the big colt around and murmured, "Oops." Bobby rolled his eyes but grinned, too. Ignacia's sides were heaving and she was sweating but Mac looked as if he'd barely run. He was crow hopping and half-rearing but Amy let him go; he had been brilliant. She patted his neck genially, still beaming; this was her kind of horse.
